K for Kumquat

The kumquat, a small citrus fruit (the smallest!) that's totally edible because it's eaten with the skin. It looks like a mini orange. Its name means "golden orange", and the kumquat offers a wealth of culinary possibilities.

Its tangy flesh works wonders in both savory and sweet dishes, to which it adds a deliciously sweet-and-sour touch.

The kumquat is distinguished by :

  • its texture, since it is eaten whole: skin and pulp
  • its oval shape and orange color
  • fresh, tangy taste

A year in the life of Kumquat

Vegetative development

My vegetative cycle takes place over the course of a year, like many other fruits:
from pruning to flowering, via ripening quietly on the tree and finally harvesting!

You can eat me whole. Yes, yes, with the skin! Avoid the leaf and stalk 🙃
